The image itself is interesting. The environment is beautiful and captured well. Compositionally, I like how the image is split in half from the cliff and the blue sky which makes it a well balanced image. It’s bizarre to be standing near the edge of the cliff in high heels, but that makes it even more interesting because there is an element of danger. I think this juxtaposed with the beautiful backdrop is what makes the image powerful.
Also I like the way you work with the environment. Your pose reflects the cliff in terms of form. The pose really works. The colors of your costume and hair also create a sense of unity with your surroundings.
However what really distracts from this is the name of the photo “Indian Summer”. Someone else wrote this but I agree.
“They're not Indians... Indians are from India! This is a 500+ year old mistake that should've ended long ago. The only reason people at first called the Native American's "Indians" was because Christopher Columbus and his companions called the Native American's as such merely because they thought they landed in "East India".”~Lodovicoh
Since it’s a collaborated work I don’t know if you choose the name or not, but it is offensive to refer to First Nations, aka Native Americans, as “Indian”. There is a lot of history and racism involved with that word when used this way-it simply cannot be overlooked. It’s a serious issue because North America- rather the Americas in general- has a lot of history involving genocides, mistreatment and war between settlers and Native Americans. I don’t know if it was you or someone else who named it this but the image would work better if you called it something else.
Long story short, the image is GREAT, the name not so much.
What i liked specifically was the setting making her [or you] look almost like an Indian or some native and i also like how she is standing on the mountain as well as the pose she is using her apparel is also eye-catchingvalso the amount of c leavage shown makes the picture rather saucy the colors make her blend nicely into the background. But the mountain scenery has one downside. It makes it look rather rough and also the mountain looks uneasy. i agree with the other critics this a very nice piece of work and deserves a nice mantle! all in all good!
Hmm... I like the picture and I like the pose, but the name in conjunction with the outfit is offensive to Native Americans. This photograph is just helping to perpetuate the laughably skewed Americans have about Natives (they all lived in the desert west, they all wore the feathers) and people should be working away from that idea in this day and age.
It's like dressing up in a fashionable sombrero/poncho getup and posing next to a cactus with the title "Dios Mio" or some other such randomness. It's rude and poorly informed.
dont quite see the need for your interjection.....I suggest that u let them speak for themselves...(they're PLENTY of full fledged Native Americans on DA who aren't running around freaking on ppl soooooo why do you...can't they talk?)..i'm sure an entire oppressed nation of people dont need your half educated and media heavy opinions to speak for them....cuz unless you REALLY know ...you shouldn't talk......respectfully
All I was doing was stating my own opinion on the picture, and I don't see the need for your two cents. I gave a polite little review of it and that was all. There was nothing even remotly resembling a flame, so I don't see your problem.
Considering that people get offended over smaller things, how could you have possibly thought that there wouldn't be at least one person pointing out what I did? You need to chill out and realize that other people have different opinions of things than you.
